Mel Monier

My name is Mel Monier.

I’m a PhD candidate and Rackham Merit Fellow in the Department of Communication and Media and Digital Studies at the University of Michigan.

My research:

I use humanities-based research methods, applying intersectional feminist theory and queer of color critique as frameworks to study digital media. I am especially interested in intersections of gender, race, sexuality, and the body.

I am recently completed a practicum in Digital Studies with Avery Dame-Griff’s Trans Oral History Project for the Queer Digital History Project. I am also a member of Oliver Haimson’s Community Research on Identity and Technology (CRIT) Lab and Lisa Nakamura’s Digital Inequality Lab.
